Ben graduated as a medical doctor (licensed physician) from Helsinki University in 1979. In 1982, he started his specialization into psychiatry working among other things in outpatient psychiatry, outpatient child psychiatry, liaison psychiatry and different hospital wards. He was accredited his specialist designation in adult psychiatry in 1986. He was certified by ministry of health as a psychotherapist in 1995 and as a trainer psychotherapist (advanced level specialist psychotherapist) in 2007.

Dr. Ben Furman will introduce a solution-based method on teaching children to overcome children’s fears and bad habits. It is called Kids Skills in action and he is presenting it now for China.  He believes that the key to accomplishment is encouraging children to acquire new skills and openly celebrating their success. That idea goes hand in hand with the Finnish educational philosophy. Cooperation in the field of education has always been an important part of the Sino-Finnish relations. He will share the new ideas such as this will push the cooperation even further and guarantee success for both parties.
